Hi folks, just a quick update on our lavender fields...we have a few English varieties that are ready to be picked now! Remember that all proceeds from U-pick go toward the Women's Shelter project in Jefferson County. We'd love to see you all this summer and help us support this wonderful cause :-)
Some things are purple on the farm....and there are lots of little shoots popping up every where, but the lavender is still a few weeks away from being in bloom.
U-pick lavender will begin around mid-June. We'll post an update here to let you know when it's ready ;-)
Our gift shop will be open this weekend, but our plant nursery is a little behind and plants will not be ready for sale until next weekend. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Beginning Saturday, we will start our Summer seasonal hours of: Thurs-Sat 10am-5pm and Sundays 12-4pm.
Please visit our website: www.cascadelavender.com for more information or call us on: (541) 546-9390. We look forward to seeing you all this summer!
All proceeds from Cascade Lavender’s U-Pick Lavender this season, will be donated to the Madras Gospel Mission to aide in development of the Madras Women’s Shelter.
This year, in honor of Wayne Pearson, late husband to Terry Pearson and father to Holly Pearson of Cascade Lavender, the farm will donate all proceeds from U-Pick Lavender to help fund the Women’s Shelter in Madras, Oregon. A project that was particularly inspired by the work of Wayne Pearson, during his time as Board Member of the Madras Gospel Mission.
Wayne served on the Madras Gospel Mission Board from 2008-2017. During that time, he became increasingly drawn to the critical need for a women's and children's shelter in Jefferson County. In the last few years of his life, meeting that need became a great passion of his.
Wayne was also passionate about Cascade Lavender, a dream that he and Terry made a reality in 2006. Their goal was to provide a scenic and tranquil setting in which visitors could experience the beauty and all the benefits of lavender in a warm and welcoming environment. His presence is greatly missed by the Pearson Family but his fingerprint is in every corner of the property which is a wonderful celebration of his life. “We take great pride in being able to use the farm which he loved so much to support another passion of Wayne’s, helping those in need,” says Terry and Holly.
Currently there is no women's shelter in Jefferson County. A Women's Shelter Task Force was formed by the Madras Gospel Mission in January 2018 to work on meeting this need. While Wayne passed away early this year before seeing this project completed, his family noted, "He went home knowing that God had raised up a coalition of concerned individuals to oversee this project and that the shelter was becoming a reality."
What a wonderful reason to visit Cascade Lavender this summer…to pick beautiful bouquets of fresh lavender and help support a great cause!
We just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of our solar eclipse visitors that came to our farm this weekend!! It was our closing weekend for the 2017 summer season and you all helped make it such a FUN festive occasion. Hi friends! We have been having so much fun this summer and enjoying all of our visitors!! Currently, we are very much under way with the harvesting of our lavender, which is pretty interesting to see if you haven't yet ;-) Not to mention, the aroma of lavender distilling is heavenly!
There are still many varieties of French Lavender in prime condition for U-pick, (see images below) and we do have a small selection of plants for sale. As our farm season is winding down for the summer, we did want to give everyone a heads up on closing times.
We will keep regular hours: Wednesday thru Saturday, 10am-5pm and Sunday, 12-4pm until the 20th of August - this will be our LAST DAY!
We will be CLOSED for the Solar Eclipse on the 21st of August.
You can also find us at the Culver Crawdad Festival on the 19th of August from 10am-5pm.
If we don't see you between now and the end of the season, you can always call us if you're in the area and want to arrange a time to visit our gift shop :-)
A Study in Day Lilies...
I just wanted to take a break from posting pictures of Lavender to highlight some of our delightful Day Lilies that are popping out all over at the moment...bring so much joy to our garden :-)
Many of you may not know, but Day Lilies were an inspiration to my Mother when she first envisioned the idea of having a flower farm when she retired. Living in Northern California at the time, she used to visit all the beautiful Day Lily farms in the area and dream of one day having a flower farm of her own. That dream turned to Lavender some time after moving to Central Oregon and learning how well it grows here and also falling in love with all the wonderful attributes of Lavender.
But it sure is nice to have some of these delightful Day Lily flowers in our garden now...they are so spectacular and surprising! I can see why Mom loved them so much :-)
Here are a few fun shots from yesterday on the farm. U-Pick is in prime condition with both French and English varieties ready to cut. Have a look at some of the beautiful bouquets some of our visitors cut yesterday!
Come join us this weekend for the Oregon Lavender Association Annual Farm Tour. We will be open our regular hours from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 12-4pm on Sunday. We still have plants for sale in our nursery, our gift shop will be open, U-pick is available or you may want to make a lavender wand try some lavender lemonade and cookies :-) We hope to see you!
Here's a few fun photos from the past few days on the farm...
Our U-pick lavender is ready to go with lots of varieties in full bloom, ready to be cut and taken home to enjoy! There are still plants available in our nursery and the gift shop has a wide range of lavender products to try.
We are open Wed-Sat, 10am-5pm and Sundays 12-4pm. We hope to see you this season!!
